The German police neutralized this Saturday a hostage situation in a shopping center in Dresden, in the east of the country, which forced the evacuation of the surroundings, according to international organizations.
According to the Associated Press (AP), German police claimed to have put an end to a hostage-taking in the city of Dresden, the capital of Saxony, in the east of the country.
According to the security authorities quoted by the Spanish agency Efe, the Altmarkt-Galerie shopping center in the center of the city is at stake.
The authorities had asked the population to avoid an area of the city center, and forced the closure of the Christmas market (Striezelmarkt) while the neutralization operation was carried out.
On the social network Twitter, the police announced that two people were injured as a result of the incident, and it is not clear what happened to the alleged perpetrator.
According to the AP, Radio Dresden had reported that a gunman tried to enter the building where the station is located, near the city’s train station.
The man will have fired several shots before leaving the place, according to the station, something not confirmed, for now, by the authorities.
Meanwhile, Dresden police confirmed that a 62-year-old woman was found dead in another part of the city, and her 40-year-old son was named a suspect in the death.
Authorities have not confirmed whether there is a link between the woman’s death and the hostage-taking at the mall.
