Thousands of British motorists and passengers suffered major disruptions on Monday morning due to frost and snowfall, especially around London where several airports had to temporarily close their runways.
Specifically, Stansted airport, located in north London, used mainly by the low-cost airline Ryanair, closed its runways overnight from Sunday to Monday to clear them of snow and warned of possible interruptions.

Motorists were trapped in their vehicles for several hours on Sunday night, caught in the snow, ice and fog, particularly in Sussex, south London, where police recommended they “only move in case of need”.
Train passengers also suffered significant delays and cancellations on Monday morning, while some lines on the London Underground suffered disruptions.
