Charles III made the first official statements as king. It started again with the memory of the long reign of Queen Elizabeth II, his mother.
“The whole world shares in this heartbreak for the irreparable loss we have all suffered. It is the greatest comfort to me to know of the condolences that so many have expressed for my sister and brothers. The overwhelming affection and support must be extended to our whole family in our loss.” , declared regarding the death of the Queen
He also explained that he was aware of the responsibilities of the inheritance left to him by the Queen and that he will be led by the Council during her reign.
“In all of this, I am deeply encouraged by the constant support of my beloved wife. I take this opportunity to reaffirm my willingness and intention to continue the tradition of transferring hereditary income, including crown property, to the government for benefit of all in return for the sovereign grant that supports my official functions as head of state.”
The king had to sign several oaths, including the security of the Church of Scotland.
