Attacks in Russia’s Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, killed one person on Sunday and injured five others, the regional governor said, two days after Ukraine’s power grid was targeted by new attacks from Moscow.
According to Viacheslav Gladkov, the region’s governor, the attacks targeted Belgorod, the regional capital, as well as a nearby district where “unfortunately one is dead and one is injured”.
This official also reveals that one of the injured is a man whose back was slashed by shrapnel and another is a woman who suffered facial injuries.
The attacks broke windows in several buildings and damaged 14 homes, Gladkov said on the Telegram social network.
Cities and infrastructure in this region are regularly attacked, often resulting in deaths, which Moscow blames on the Ukrainian military. The city of Belgorod was also directly hit several times.
The governor announced the construction of fortifications along the border, without specifying their size or exact location, as well as the formation of self-defense units.
⚡️ In the Belgorod region (Russia), a poultry company also came under fire.
Governor Gladkov said one person was killed and one injured.
