France’s President Emmanuel Macron said on Tuesday that the government is preparing a bill to strengthen the country’s military strategy and re-equip the armed forces.
“Five years ago, I chose to make major investments in our armed forces and promulgated the Law on Military Programming. Now we are preparing a new law that will allow us to make great progress in this area”he told radio station France Info.
The French president underlined that France must have an army capable of this “act with autonomy and choose their allies, both for the defense of their own territory, and for Europe or the Mediterranean”🇧🇷
He further pointed out that the Russian invasion of Ukraine “forces to arm and have a real military strategy”which requires “investments in people, training, investment capacity, equipment and innovation”, according to the daily Figaro.
“It is very clear that war, the return of war to Europe, the game of powers, requires that we are well equipped, that we have a real strategy”he said, referring to the Russian attack on Ukraine and its aftermath.
