The Taliban regime in Afghanistan this Tuesday banned, “until further notice”, the admission of women to public and private universities across the country, the local higher education ministry announced, quoted by the Afghan news agency Jaama Press.
In a short statement, also broadcast by the official television network Tolo, the Afghan ministry calls for the suspension of the admission of women to higher education institutions.
Afghanistan’s Minister for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, Mohamad Khalid Hanafi, also explained this Tuesday that the reopening of educational centers, closed since the Taliban came to power, depends in large part on creating a decent cultural and religious environment🇧🇷
The Taliban authorities have been criticized for the closure of educational centers and the exclusion of female students from education, in a broader context of discriminatory measures against women, which keep them away from jobs and ultimately impose their daily lives.
Since August, authorities have prevented higher education students from returning to classes, granting only students permission.
In February, the process of reopening universities ended after the imposition of gender segregation in classrooms.
