Dimitri Medvedev traveled to China at the invitation of the leader of the Chinese Communist Party (PCC).

The president of the Asian country emphasized that China has “always taken an objective and fair position” regarding the war in Ukraine and has “promoted peace talks”, while he said he hopes that both sides will “share their common security concerns”. to resolve”. through policy”.

Still talking about the conflict in Ukraine, the former Russian president pointed out that “it is very complex” and that his country is ready to “solve the problems it faces through peace negotiations”.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chinese president expressed the hope that the parties that rule the two powers – China and Russia – will “conduct an in-depth exchange on governance experiences” and “learn from each other” about what constitutes party building.

Similarly, the Chinese leader assured that relations between Moscow and Beijing “have stood the test of international vicissitudes and have always developed in a healthy and stable manner”.

In turn, Medvedev, who is also the vice president of the Security Council of Russia, indicated that his party wants to “promote the cooperation of both countries in areas such as economy, trade, energy or agriculture”.

During the meeting between the two, Xi Jinping asked Dimitry Medvedev to convey his “warm greetings and best wishes” to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Starting today, Beijing and Moscow will hold joint naval exercises in the waters of the East China Sea, which will last until December 27.

The exercises, called “Naval Interaction”, which have been held annually since 2012, this time include artillery and missile launch exercises, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, China has taken an ambiguous stance calling for respect for the “territorial integrity of all countries”, including Ukraine, and attention to the “legitimate concerns of all countries”, with reference to Russia. .

Beijing has repeatedly spoken out against sanctions against Moscow because it “has no basis in international law” and because it “has not solved the problems”.
