A shooting in the center of Paris left at least two dead and four wounded. The alert was given at 12:00 local time (11:00 in Portugal) and a man was detained by the authorities.
French authorities told Agence France Presse (AFP) that the man is in his 60s and the motives for the attack are unknown. Two of the four injured are in serious condition.
“The shooter was detained with the weapon. The danger has passed. The motives remain unknown,” a police source told the news agency.
The Local Police requested, via Twitter, that they “avoid the area and let the emergency services intervene.”

According to a resident of the area, the shooter was detained at a hairdresser: “People were in a panic, yelling at the police and pointing at the hairdresser.”
The authorities explained to AFP that the shooter is “between 60 and 70 years old” and that “the identity is being confirmed.”
A shopkeeper who was in the area told AFP he heard seven or eight shots: “It was total panic. We locked ourselves inside the store.”
