A fire at a nursing home in Kemerovo, a city in south-central Russia, left at least 20 dead and two people hospitalized with severe burns on Friday night.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, the fire alert in a two-story private nursing home was given around 10:20 p.m. (3:20 p.m. in Lisbon).
When the fire brigade arrived, the roof, which covered an area of 180 square meters, was engulfed in flames.
At least 20 people have died, seven are missing, two were taken to hospital with severe burns and four others were released after receiving medical treatment.
After the fire was extinguished, the first floor, where 20 people were, was completely burned.
According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, 28 firefighting teams, with a total of 80 elements, were deployed to the scene, where they continue to work, according to TASS.
This is not the first fire in a nursing home in Kemerovo. On January 8, a fire broke out on the first floor of a nursing home that killed four people.
