Zelensky warns of the danger of possible attacks in the last days of the year

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned Ukrainians on Sunday of the danger of a possible shelling by Russian troops during the celebrations of the last days of the year.

“There are few days left in the year, we must be aware that our enemy will try to make this dark and difficult time for us,” the head of state said in his evening speech, which has been broadcast every day by the Ukrainian Presidency since the beginning of the year. Russian invasion, February 24.

The Ukrainian leader also claimed that “Russia has lost everything it could this year, but it is trying to make up for its losses with the arrogance of its propagandists after missile attacks” on the country, including the energy sector.

“I know that the darkness will not prevent us from leading the occupiers to new defeats. But we have to be prepared for any scenario,” he added.

Zelensky called on citizens to be aware of air raid warnings and take cover.

“Please take care of yourselves and be ready to help others. When Ukrainians are together, when Ukrainians thank each other, we cannot be defeated,” he said.

The President took the opportunity to thank the members of the Armed Forces and volunteers, as well as the workers of the emergency services and critical infrastructures, teachers and transport workers.

More than 7.8 million people have fled the war in Ukraine to other European countries, with another 6.5 million internally displaced, according to recent United Nations figures.
