The year 2022 is marked by the farewell to various charismatic political leaders, both national and international, from Adriano Moreira to Mikhail Gorbachev, but also icons of Portuguese culture and sport.
José Eduardo dos Santos, Angolan leader for 38 years, died in Barcelona, the victim of a long illness, but the year was indelibly marked by the death of its longest-serving figure: Queen Elizabeth II.
It was in September that, after 70 years of reign, the leader of the Commonwealth passed away at the age of 96, beginning 11 days of ceremonies.
In Portugal, the country said goodbye to the actress Eunice Muñoz -with a career spanning eight decades- and the painter Paula Rego. Jorge Silva Melo, Ana Luísa Amaral, Fernando Pádua, Mário Mesquita, Fernando Gomes and Chalana also died.
On the international stage, Angela Lansbury, Olivia Newton-John and Kirstie Alley disappeared, but also Jô Soares and Jean-Luc Godard and Gal Costa and Jerry Lee Lewis.
