Part of the world is already in 2023. New Zealand and eastern Australia celebrated the New Year with the usual fireworks displays. New Zealand was the first to celebrate the new year with a light show in its capital, Auckland.
In particular, fireworks were launched near the Sky Tower, an event that had to be canceled last year due to restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Sydney Opera House in the spotlight
In Australia, the famous Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge were lit up in blue, red and purple. A show inspired this year by “the land, the sea and the sky”, which pays tribute to the “guardians of the earth”, according to the city.
The Harbor Bridge has also been decked out in the colors of the rainbow, as the city will host World Pride next February, an event that is organized every two years in a different country and that aims to promote issues related to the LGBT community.
