New attacks and victims in kyiv and Moscow demand progress in the East

Russian attacks hit Ukrainian cities again this Saturday, including the capital kyiv, causing at least one death and several injuries, while in the east Moscow claims to have regained control of a city in the Zaporizhia region.

“According to initial reports, one person was killed. Several people, at least seven, were injured,” Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said on the Telegram social network.

France-Presse journalists heard at least 11 explosions in kyiv early Saturday morning.

Ukrainian authorities also reported destruction and fires in Mykolaiv in the south, where at least two people were injured, and in Khmelnytsky in the west, where four people were injured in Russian attacks.

On the Russian side, the Ministry of Defense announced this Saturday the seizure of the town of Dorozhnianka, in the eastern Ukrainian region of Zaporizhia.

According to a representative of the ministry, the Russian military continued its offensive towards Donetsk with the support of aviation and artillery, reporting dozens of casualties of the Ukrainian troops and the destruction of war material.

After several military setbacks at the front, in a military offensive that began on February 24 and continues, Russia has opted since October for a tactic of bombing Ukrainian infrastructure, which regularly causes massive cuts in electricity and running water.

‘Drones’ (unmanned aerial vehicles) are often used in these attacks and today the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, ordered the Government to create a commission for the development of ‘drones’ and set a period of a month and a half for the project to be introduced

Putin said the goal is “to prepare proposals for a state policy on the development, production, certification and operation of unmanned aircraft systems.”

The commission, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov, has until February 15 to approve a national project on the development of these devices, according to the Kremlin.
