McCarthy warns Democrats and wants “a balance” with Biden’s policies

The new leader of the House of Representatives, Republican Kevin McCarthy, challenged the Democrats in the opening speech of Congress and guaranteed a commitment to achieve “a balance” with the policies of the president of the United States (USA), Joe Biden.

“There is nothing more important than making it possible for American families to live and enjoy the lives they deserve, which is why we are committed to ending waste in Washington by lowering the price of food, gas, housing and ending the increase in the national debt. “said the ‘spokesman’ of the House of Representatives, after four days and 15 votes to ensure his election.

Faced with difficulties in getting enough votes within the party itself, in the face of resistance from a group of more conservative Republicans, McCarthy stressed that “it is time” to oversee the White House agenda, pointing to immigration, energy policy and ” progressive indoctrination in schools ”, already after Biden expressed his willingness to collaborate in a statement.

“We have to secure the border, no longer ignoring a security and sovereignty crisis,” said the leader of the House of Representatives, who reiterated the expectation of approving legislative initiatives to confront “the open southern border.”

McCarthy also highlighted two “long-term challenges” in the House: debt and the rise of the Chinese Communist Party.

“Congress must speak with one voice on these two issues,” said the Republican majority leader, who stressed that he intends to create a bipartisan committee on China “to investigate how to bring hundreds back to the United States. thousands of jobs displaced.

And although he expressed his willingness to “work with everyone,” the Republican leader alluded to the work of the Democratic-backed legislative commission that investigated the attack on the Capitol two years ago and the role played by former President Donald Trump.

“Unilateral investigations are over, competing ideas will be tested before the public so that the best ones win,” he warned.

Members of the House of Representatives, including Kevin McCarthy, were sworn in this morning after days of political chaos, although they did not approve the rules that will govern the operation of the lower house, since they decided to suspend the session until Monday.
