Covid: Thailand tightens its entry conditions after the reopening of Chinese borders

International travelers will once again have to prove that they are vaccinated against Covid before being able to embark for the Southeast Asian country, while quarantine is no longer mandatory upon arrival in China.

Thailand will require international travelers to prove they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 before flying into the country, Thailand’s airline regulator has announced, as it prepares for the arrival of tourists from China, after its reopening on Sunday. border.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) said in a statement on Saturday that from Monday all foreign travelers will be required to show proof that they are vaccinated, or have contracted Covid, and have been cured within the last six months.

Unvaccinated arrivals must present a medical certificate explaining why they were not vaccinated.

A measure in force at least until the end of January

The CAAT added that the verification of documents before boarding would be the responsibility of the airlines and that the new measure will remain in force at least until the end of January.

Thailand removed the proof of vaccination requirement in October. The reinstated measure will not apply to Thai passport holders or passengers only transiting through the country.
