A big surprise for the security guards at the Tampa, Florida airport. While taking an X-ray of a passenger’s luggage, they discovered a huge boa constrictor, more than a meter long.
In the photo, shared on social media by a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) spokesperson on Friday, the animal is huddled in the corner of the suitcase, between a laptop and a pair of shoes.
This startling discovery was made on December 15, according to spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein, interviewed by CNN. The agency then notified the airline, which did not allow the passenger to board.
precedents
It is not the first time that US airport officials have discovered animals in luggage. In 2019, as our American colleagues recall, a snake measuring about a foot was seen near a checkpoint at Newark International Airport.
The year before, at the Miami airport, TSA agents discovered a python wrapped in a sock, which was itself hidden on a computer hard drive. The passenger, from Barbados, was fined and the animal seized.
