An explosion at Kabul airport has killed at least 10 people and injured eight in an attack whose authorship has not yet been claimed, a provisional Taliban government source said on Sunday.
A spokesman for the Afghan Interior Ministry, Abdul Nafi Tekor, said earlier this morning that the explosion allegedly occurred outside a guardhouse in the military zone of Kabul’s airport, without giving figures on injuries or deaths.
So far no claim has been made for the attack, although similar explosions have been carried out by the Khorasan Islamic State, the Afghan arm of the terror group, which the Taliban considers traitors to Sharia orthodoxy (Islamic law).
The Khorasan Islamic State emerges as the main threat to the country’s stability, although the Taliban maintains to deny that the armed organization poses a security problem.
In response to several attacks by this terror group, the Taliban conducted operations in different parts of the country in an attempt to dismantle ISIL Khorasan.
The Taliban have ruled Afghanistan since they took control of Kabul on August 15, 2021.
