The delivery of armored infantry and other weapons to Ukraine, announced last week by several Western countries, will only “prolong” the suffering of Ukrainians and not “change the balance of power,” the Kremlin said Monday.
‘Europe, NATO and the United States have already sent billions of dollars to Ukraine and supplied weapons’Russian presidency spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
“Fundamentally, these deliveries cannot and will not change anything (…). These deliveries will only prolong the suffering of the Ukrainian people,” he added.
Last week, the United States announced new military aid to Ukraine worth more than $3 billion, including 50 Bradley-style armored infantry and dozens of other armored vehicles.
For its part, Berlin said it should send the Ukrainian army 40 “Marder” armored vehicles, light armored vehicles intended for troop transport, as well as a Patriot anti-aircraft battery in the first quarter of 2023.
The French government stated that it would send an undetermined number of AMX-10 RC light battle tanks.
Since the start of the Russian offensive against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Western countries have supported Kiev by providing financial and military support, especially with the supply of weapons.
Ukrainian authorities are demanding heavy tanks that can be used in offensive operations, but their allies have so far refused, fearing an escalation of the conflict with Moscow.
