Armenian politician Edmon Marukian wrote on Facebook that, to this end, Baku had been accusing the Armenian side of fake border shootings for days.
“Many wonder why Azerbaijan spreads disinformation in such an organized and consecutive way. We all know that when Baku prepares a new provocation on the border, it first tries to give it informational legitimacy”, analyzed Marukian.
Edmon Marukian also urged international actors interested in peace in the South Caucasus to closely monitor the situation to avoid possible incidents.
The two countries dispute several border areas, including the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, an enclave in Azerbaijan, occupied by Armenia, which caused a violent armed conflict between 1993 and 1994, which claimed thousands of victims, before a ceasefire who has been raped multiple times.
