In a thinktank in Washington that the current leader of the United States used as an office, the White House said Monday.
Biden’s lawyers discovered the documents last November while clearing office space and turned them over to the National Archives, which handles all this material, Biden’s special adviser Richard Sauber revealed.

Sauber described them as “a small number of documents with classified features” found in the Penn Biden Center, a thinktank associated with the University of Pennsylvania, and who were locked in a closet.
“The documents have not previously been the subject of any request or consultation” and since turning them over, Biden’s lawyers have also cooperated “to ensure that all Obama and Biden records come into proper possession of the records.”
CBS News reported that Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed the U.S. Attorney in Chicago to review the documents and that the FBI is also investigating.
There are about ten documents at stake. A source familiar with the process indicates that none of them contain any nuclear secrets.
In August, authorities searched Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence after the former president failed to respond to repeated requests for cooperation in recovering documents retrieved from the White House after the 2020 election.
The FBI found thousands of government documents, including more than 100 classified as classified and some classified as top secret, at the former president’s Florida estate. Topics covered in the documents would include sensitive classified information about China and Iran and nuclear secrets.
“When is the FBI going to raid Joe Biden’s many homes and maybe even the White House? These documents have certainly not been released,” Trump asked in a terse statement after the documents were discovered at the think tank.
