A new earthquake was registered this Monday in Indonesia, announced the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The magnitude 6 quake, recorded about fifty kilometers east of the coast, did not prompt the issuance of a tsunami warning by the Indonesian authorities, the AP notes.
In November, More than 300 people died in an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 registered in the city of Cianjuralso located in the western part of the island of Java.
“Ring of Fire”
It was the deadliest earthquake in Indonesia since 2018, when the Palu region on Celebes Island was hit by an earthquake and tsunami that killed more than 4,000 people.
Situated on the Pacific “ring of fire” where tectonic plates meet, Indonesia is regularly faced with earthquakes or volcanic eruptions.
