Ukraine: Death toll from Russian attack on Dnipro building rises to 35

According to the head of the city’s military administration, some 35 people are still missing as rescuers continue their search.

A final dramatic report. According to the head of the Dnipro military administration speaking on Telegram, the attack that hit a building in this city in central Ukraine on Saturday killed 35 people, including two children.

This total could increase in the next few hours since, according to this same source, 35 people are still missing.

dozens of disappeared

This Sunday, the Ukrainian authorities already had little hope of finding survivors among the rubble. “The chances of saving people now are minimal,” the city’s mayor Boris Filatov told Reuters.

“I think the death toll will be in the dozens,” he said.

Yesterday, however, emergency services miraculously found a scantily clad woman alive while temperatures are freezing in the Ukrainian capital.

According to the mayor of Dnipro, the building was hit by a Russian Kh-22 missile, which destroyed two floors housing some 75 apartments. In a statement, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that its forces had launched a wave of missiles against the Ukrainian army and infrastructure the day before, achieving all its objectives not to mention the situation in Dnipro.

In his daily speech, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke in Russian and denounced the “cowardly silence” of the Russian population, which remains silent in the face of these acts.
