The Nepalese authorities reviewed this Monday, a day of mourning in the country, the death toll in the plane crash on Sunday, from 68 to 66 of the 72 people on board.
The death toll, initially 68, has been revised, Kaski Tek Bahadur KC district official said.
Meanwhile, at the place where the plane crashed, in the center of the country, rescue teams are also searching the wreckage for the “black boxes” of the plane. The causes of the accident have not yet been determined.
A witness, who filmed the plane landing from his balcony, said he saw the plane fly low before making a sudden left turn.
“I was shocked,” Diwas Bohora was quoted as saying by the Associated Press news agency.
The Nepal Civil Aviation Authority said the aircraft last made contact with the airport near the Seti pass in the center of the country at 10:50 a.m. (5:05 a.m. in Lisbon) before crashing.
The plane had left the capital, Kathmandu, bound for Pokhara at around 10:30 a.m. (4:45 a.m. in Lisbon), and crashed during the approach maneuver to Pokhara International Airport, in the Seti River valley.
Pokhara, located 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu, is the gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, a popular Himalayan trekking route.
