The Russian army announced Mardi des “frappes massives” sur tous les fronts in reaction to the dazzling counter-offensive of the Ukrainian troops, which the State-Unis ont qualified as “changement d’élan” in announcing a new military aid “dans the following days”.
On the ground, Russian bombardments have killed at least eight people and wounded 19 in 24 hours in the Kharkiv (northeast) and Donetsk (east) regions, according to the Ukrainian presidency.
“Ukraine registers up to 200 war crimes committed daily by the Russians” on its soil, assured the Ukrainian General Staff, adding that “more than 70,000 km2 in 10 Ukrainian regions have been mined” by the occupiers.
Punitive actions against civilians?
For its part, Russia has claimed that the Ukrainian military were taking reprisals against the civilian population in the places they have occupied in recent days. “According to our information, there are a lot of punitive actions against the inhabitants of the Kharkiv region, people are being tortured and ill-treated,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, adding: “It’s appalling.”
In the town of Bogoroditchne, formerly on the front line not far from Donetsk and evacuated by the Russians a few days ago, virtually every house bears the marks of heavy fighting.
The offensive launched on February 24 will continue “until the objectives are achieved”, the Kremlin had hammered, according to which currently “there are no prospects for negotiations” between the two belligerents.
