Although prime minister, he did not benefit from any leniency. Rishi Sunak was fined for not wearing a seatbelt in a car while filming a video that went viral on social media on Thursday.
According to the BBC, a government spokesman said Rishi Sunak “fully acknowledges that this was a mistake and apologized,” adding that he will pay the fine. Lancashire Police also posted a tweet on Friday night implying this sanction.
“Following the posting of a video on social media showing a person not wearing a seatbelt, while traveling as a passenger in a moving car in Lancashire, today we are making a 42-year-old man from London a conditional offer of a lump sum. judgment,” the post read.
This is the second time that Rishi Sunak has been fined while in government. He received one last April, as did Boris Johnson, for breaking lockdown rules by attending the then prime minister’s birthday gathering in Downing Street in June 2020.
