Cholera outbreak kills 511 people in Haiti in less than four months

A cholera outbreak has caused 511 deaths in Haiti in less than four months, the Ministry of Public Health and Population reported Monday.

Haiti, which is going through a serious security and food crisis, has registered a total of 25,803 suspected cases.

Of the total cases, 21,995 required hospitalization. The average age of those admitted is 19 years.

According to the health authorities, the age group most affected by cholera continues to be that of children between 1 and 4 years of age.
