Ukraine woke up this Thursday to the warning of an airstrike. Russian forces have fired more than 30 rockets at various points in the area, authorities said, asking the population to take cover in shelters. Recorded explosions in Kiev, the mayor said.
“We are expecting more than 30 missiles, which have already appeared in several areas. Air defense systems are working,” Ukrainian military spokesman Yuriy Ignat told local media.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported explosions in the capital. “Stay in shelters,” the mayor pleaded on the social network Telegram. “The explosions took place in the Dnipro district,” he said.
“The enemy launched more than 15 cruise missiles towards Kiev. Thanks to the excellent air defense work, all air targets were shot down”, said Sergiy Popko, head of the capital’s military administration.
Interior Ministry adviser Anton Gerashchenko announced this morning that the entire Ukrainian territory was under air strike alert.

According to Kyiv Independent, this new wave of Russian attacks has led Ukraine’s largest private energy company to implement power cuts in the Kiev, Odessa and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
“This is a forced preventive measure that will prevent significant damage to energy infrastructure if enemy missiles hit the target,” DTEK wrote on the Telegram social network.
