The unemployment rate fell, in December 2022, to 6.6% in the euro area and 6.1% in the European Union, compared to the same month in 2021, Eurostat published this Wednesday.
According to the EU statistics service, in the euro countries, unemployment fell to 6.6% compared to 7.0% in December 2021, but remained stable in relation to November.
In the EU, the unemployment rate of 6.1% fell from 6.4% in the last month of 2021 and remained unchanged in the monthly variation.
In December 2022, Eurostat estimates, 13,148 million people were unemployed, of which 11,048 in the euro zone.
Spain (13.1%), Greece (11.6%) and Italy (7.8%) had the highest unemployment rates among the Member States and the Czech Republic (2.3%), Germany (2.9 %) and Malta (3.2%) the lowest, with Portugal registering, in December 2022, 6.7% unemployment.
