According to the Estadão newspaper, the specialist in Portuguese literature in Brazil received her doctorate in 1959 in Classical and Vernacular Literature from the National Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Brazil and taught for more than 50 years at institutions such as the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio).
Cleonice Berardinelli was also a professor at the Catholic University of Petrópolis, at the Rio Branco Institute and was a visiting professor at the Universities of California, Santa Bárbara campus (1985) and Lisbon (1987 and 1989).
