Melanie C, whose real name is Melanie Chisholm, claims she was sexually assaulted by a masseuse the night before the Spice Girls’ debut show.
The reveal was made on the podcast How to fail?where the artist went to promote her memoir”Who I am, Chisholm“.
According to the British singer, the incident took place at a hotel in Istanbul, Turkey, and she felt “vulnerable” and “violated”.
“What happened to me, I almost buried it right away, because there were other things to focus on”told host Elizabeth Day, stressing that the band’s rehearsals and preparation made her want to focus on the performance and not the sexual assault she was subjected to.
“I didn’t want to make a fuss, but I didn’t have time to deal with it either”, he explained, noting that he initially did not want to mention the incident in his book, but decided to write about the attack after recalling it in a dream. “I think it’s very important for me to say this, to finally deal with this and charge the man,” he continued.
Still, Melanie C says the “situation wasn’t as bad as it could have been,” noting that she was in an environment where she undressed to get a massage. “I felt vulnerable, I was ashamed,” she confessed.
