Senator accuses Bolsonaro of forcing him to take part in a coup

Brazilian Senator Marcos do Val, from Podemos, this Thursday, the 2nd, accused Jair Bolsonaro of trying to involve him in a coup d’état plan aimed at keeping the former President of the Republic in the Planalto and preventing Lula from taking office da Silva.

According to Marcos do Val, an ally of Bolsonaro for the past four years, Daniel Silveira, a former deputy of the Bolsonarists, asked him in a meeting with the then President of the Republic to detain Alexandre de Moraes, judge of the Federal Republic. lay. Supreme Court and President of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), without his knowledge. The intent was to uncover a contradiction from the magistrate that could lead to his arrest.

The senator shared a message from Silveira days later: “Since we were short on time, I have not passed on what I understand as a guideline for you to adapt in your own way. However, I already have eavesdropping devices used by special operations. I have a receiving vehicle that can reproduce immediately past the shot and this operation is limited to a circle of five people. Three sat together today talking. If you accept the mission, paraphrasing 01, we will save Brazil”.

The revelation of Marcos do Val has been linked to a document found by police in the home of former Justice Minister Anderson Torres, arrested in January for alleged involvement in the attacks on Brasília: this document was a decree of ” the state of defense in the TSE”, presided over by Moraes, who would in practice arrest the judge, would prevent Lula from assuming the head of state and keep Bolsonaro in office.

Authorities believe the “five people” with knowledge of the coup plan mentioned in Silveira’s message would be the author of the text, Marcos do Val, Bolsonaro (the “01”), Torres and someone from the head of the Institutional Security Bureau , led under Bolsonaro by General Augusto Heleno, who would provide “special operations eavesdropping”.

Parallel to Do Val’s accusation, former deputy sheriff Silveira was arrested in Rio de Janeiro on the morning of Thursday the 2nd, and former minister Torres is making a new statement to police in the coming hours.

Bolsonaro has not yet commented on the subject, but Senator Flávio Bolsonaro said in plenary that “instead of stories we should stick to the facts and the facts are that Bolsonaro left the presidency of the Republic on December 31”.
