“The fight is fierce.” For several weeks, eastern Ukraine, particularly around Bakhmout and Soledar, has been the scene of terrible clashes between Ukrainian and Russian troops.
This Thursday night on BFMTV, Wladimir Klitschko, a member of Kyiv’s territorial defense and brother of the mayor, reconfirmed that “the situation is very difficult” before recalling that “this situation has been going on for a year.”
“It is a wave that breaks in the east. The fight is fierce,” he lamented.
Precisely, with the proximity of the first anniversary of the Russian invasion in Ukraine, the authorities fear a symbolic resurgence of the fighting by Moscow, once again mobilizing tens of thousands of men.
These Russian soldiers, Wladimir Klitschko calls them “zombies.” According to him, “they advance, they drown in the mass.”
He added: “It’s very, very difficult to deal with zombies.”
“We need the weapons”
Like its president for months, Wladimir Klitschko once again called on allied countries to send arms to Ukraine.
“We need the weapons […] We have to save lives. We face relentless attacks,” she said.
After the promise of delivery of Western tanks to Ukraine, kyiv requested combat aircraft. Emmanuel Macron has not closed the door there, unlike Joe Biden or Olaf Scholz, who are categorically opposed to this possibility.
The brother of the Kyiv mayor then alerted Ukraine’s allied countries, and in particular the European Union, that after Ukraine, Russia will attack other democratic nations. “This can be extended to other countries,” warned the former professional boxer.
