King Charles III of England ends today in Wales the first round of visits to the nations of the United Kingdom since he was proclaimed monarch on September 10.
Charles III will receive condolences from the Welsh Parliament, government and other officials and attend a church service at Cardiff’s Llandaff Cathedral in memory of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who died a week ago.
The ceremony at Cardiff Cathedral is the first moment on Charles III’s agenda in Wales, after which the king and his wife, the queen consort Camilla, will meet with children and members of the local community, according to the program broadcast by the British crown.
Next, the couple goes to the Welsh Parliament (Senedd), where they will be received by the Welsh Prime Minister, Mark Drakeford, and the parliamentary authorities, followed by a session of condolences and an intervention by Charles III.
The visit ends at Cardiff Castle, with Charles III receiving Mark Drakeford in audience, followed by a reception for local authorities.
The Welsh authorities guarantee that the population will have the opportunity to contact Carlos III and Camila at some points during the visit.
The tradition and rules of the British monarchy dictate that after the acclamation the new monarch must visit the four nations of the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland).
Carlos III has already passed, since last Saturday, by the British parliament, in London, and the local parliaments of Scotland and Northern Ireland, in addition to having met with authorities of the different nations of the United Kingdom and having had contact with the populations , always accompanied by the queen consort.
Until last Saturday, the new King of England was Prince of Wales, the title traditionally given to heirs to the British crown.
After becoming King of England, Charles III proclaimed his eldest son William and his wife Catherine the new Princes of Wales, who held a title that no one had held in 25 years, since the death of England’s first wife, now monarch, Diana. .
Meanwhile, in London, the tribute ceremonies to Elizabeth II continue today, with the urn with the body of the monarch resting in a burning chamber in Westminster Hall, in the palace that houses the British parliament.
The urn is in this place from Wednesday at 5:00 p.m., with access to the general population 24 hours a day until 6:30 a.m. on Monday, the day of the state funeral.

Elizabeth II died on September 8 at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, after more than 70 years on the throne, the longest reign in UK history.
