Beijing said US balloons have flown over the People’s Republic of China at least 10 times in the past year, adding to tensions over the downing of a suspected Chinese spy balloon over the United States.
“It is common for American balloons to illegally enter other countries’ airspace. In the past year, American high-altitude balloons have flown over Chinese airspace more than 10 times without the approval of (Beijing) authorities. The United States You should reflect and change your attitude before starting the confrontation and accusing others with slander,” said the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.
Wang Wenbin, a spokesman for Beijing diplomacy, said he had “no knowledge” about the latest unidentified flying objects shot down in the United States and Canada, accusing Washington of “overreacting.”
However, on Sunday, a US warplane shot down “an unidentified (flying) object” over Lake Huron, Michigan, on orders from the head of state, Joe Biden.
According to US authorities, this is the fourth case in eight days.
The Pentagon, according to the Associated Press, said it was “an extraordinary succession of events without precedent in United States airspace.”
General Glen VanHerck, head of the Northern Command (NORAD) of the United States, said that, in part, the detection of the “objects” (balloons) is due to the alert level that was adopted since last January.
