Zelensky notices progress in talks with allies about military aid

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky defended this Monday that any advance by Ukraine in negotiations with allies, such as in the delivery of military equipment to Kiev’s armed forces, means “a shorter time to victory”.

“We reach new agreements almost every day. The past week has been particularly intense. But the key is to ensure that every agreement reached is converted into concrete deliveries for our defense, concrete interaction between states and concrete documents signed as soon as possible .” emphasized the Ukrainian head of state.

Zelensky emphasized the acceleration of diplomatic work with Western partners in recent days during his usual daily evening speech.

The Ukrainian ruler emphasized “an important mutual understanding with the United Kingdom on long-range weapons and the need to accelerate the delivery of tanks”.

“We have a good agreement on artillery and ammunition. We have a full understanding of each other’s positions in modern fighters,” Zelensky stressed.

Regarding the talks between Kiev, Paris, with President Emmanuel Macron, and Berlin, with Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the President of Ukraine emphasized that the conversation between the three rulers was “very candid”, allowing “finding a common understanding about the prospects of this war”.

“We have a common vision on the road to victory,” he assured.

Zelensky also highlighted the negotiations with Poland, which involved the supply of tanks and other weapons for ground defense, aircraft and other air defense assets.

“As always, we have full understanding for our Polish brothers,” he said.

Also this Monday, Polish President Andrzej Duda stressed that the next two weeks will be “very intense”, with meetings scheduled with several European leaders to “strengthen Poland’s security and also adopt new provisions to support Ukraine”. – country invaded by Russia last February – “in an even better and more effective way”.

In addition to talks about military aid, the Ukrainian president also recalled the “unprecedented” visit to Brussels.

“For the first time there was so much focus on Ukraine, for the first time there was a meeting with all European leaders at the same time and a series of conversations with European leaders that were as dynamic, meaningful and free from excessive politicization as possible,” stressed.

Zelensky stressed that it is “very important” to get the “clear support” of the European institutions and European leaders, recalling that Ukraine wants to “prepare and start negotiations on accession to the European Union” this year.

For the Ukrainian head of state, “now more than ever, it seems that Ukraine’s European goals are becoming a reality” and “there are more real results than political statements”.

The military offensive launched by Russia in Ukraine on February 24, 2022 has so far led to the flight of more than 14 million people – 6.5 million internally displaced persons and more than eight million to European countries – according to the most recent data from the UN. which classifies this refugee crisis as the worst in Europe since World War II (1939-1945).

At the moment, at least 17.7 million Ukrainians need humanitarian aid and 9.3 million need food aid and shelter.

The Russian invasion – justified by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russian security – was condemned by the international community at large, which responded by sending weapons to Ukraine and Russia political and economic sanctions.
