The suspicious envelope found today at the Italian embassy in Lisbon, which required specialized police intervention, did not pose any threat, a PSP source told Lusa.
A Lisbon Metropolitan Command source said the suspicious envelope, the warning of which was issued around 5pm, was the subject of a careful inspection by the Center for Explosive Deactivation and Underground Security, in conjunction with the judicial police. have found to contain a powder, but without any threat.
The situation, which forced traffic on the entrances to Largo Pombeiro, where the Italian Embassy is located, close to Campo Mártires da Pátria, in Lisbon, was considered resolved at 7:40 p.m.
The suspicion communicated to the authorities led to the activation of a specific security protocol for these cases, with teams from the PSP for criminal investigations, the traffic department and the police special unit, through the Centro de Inactivação de Engenhos Explosivos e Underground sub-unit security, with the support of the Fire Brigade and an INEM ambulance.
The investigation is now moving forward to determine the source of the threat.
