Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko assured this Friday during a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, that Minsk is ready to produce Sukhoi Su-25 aircraft on its territory if it receives technological support from Moscow.
“Belarus is ready, with some technical support from the Russian side, to start production of fighter jets”he said, adding that Belarusian arms factories are already producing up to 1,000 parts for MC-21 and Superjet 100 aircraft.
The Belarusian president, who met Putin at the Novo-Ogaryovo estate, near the capital Moscow, specified that there are at least three factories, two military and one civilian, that manufacture components for aviation.
“We are doing everything we can to overcome the barriers artificially created for us”he said, adding that according to the BelTA news agency, they regularly work with companies in the automotive industry, such as Maz or Kamaz.
The Belarusian president indicated that Minsk and Moscow have fulfilled 100% of the security agreements with Russia and that there is “progress in the microelectronics industry”, something Putin also agreed.
“We mainly increase the opportunities in the field of industrial cooperation”he said, highlighting the “synergy” of industry opportunities with the strength of companies in both countries, as reported by news agency TASS.
During the meeting, Lukashenko and Putin discussed security, military cooperation and economic issues.
