South Korea says Pyongyang has launched a new missile, its second since Friday

The military leadership of the armed forces said that this launch, which took place as early as Monday (local time), was carried out to the east, but did not provide details about the type of weapon used.

On Friday, North Korea launched its Hwasong-15 ICBM from the east coast, in the first test of its kind since Jan. 1.

On Friday, Pyongyang threatened an “unprecedented” response to the annual military maneuvers Seoul and Washington began preparing in March, which the regime described as “preparations for a war of aggression”.

Next week, the South Korean and US militaries will also hold a theoretical exercise at the Pentagon simulating a nuclear strike by Pyongyang.

In 2022, North Korea conducted a record number of missile launches, about half a hundred, in many cases in response to joint maneuvers by the two allies and the strengthening of the US strategic presence on the peninsula.
