Zelensky says the situation in the east is difficult, but Russia is losing

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterates that the situation in the east of the country, especially in Donetsk, is difficult for the Kiev army, but the Ukrainian army is fighting.

“We are fighting. We are ending the invader and inflicting great losses on Russia,” Zelensky said.

In the daily bulletin issued Sunday night and published this Monday on the presidency’s official website, Zelensky said he had met with military leaders and received reports “from the chief of staff, commanders and even the front.” [de combate]”.

“We are balancing the situation and doing everything possible to prepare our actions for the future, for the near future,” he added.

However, Zelensky expressed concern about the situation in Bakhmut, in the Donetsk region, a strategic zone for Ukrainian forces.

“I repeat again: the more Russia loses in Donbass: Bakhmut, Vuhledar, Marynka, Kremynna, the more it will be possible to end this war with Ukraine’s victory,” the Ukrainian president underlined.

Zelensky promised Ukrainian citizens more transparency about the situation at the front, despite reservations about military matters and the details of intelligence actions.

The most recent information on the situation in the eastern region has not yet been followed up by independent means.

This Monday, Kiev commemorates the more than 100 Ukrainians who died in the 2014 protests on Independence Square (Maidan), in the center of the capital.

“Ukrainians know what it means to fight for and defend their freedom. At difficult and crucial moments in history, we never give up and always show courage and selflessness,” Zelensky wrote in the post shared on Facebook

A video has been published on the social network in which it is possible to see the Ukrainian President and the First Lady, Olena Zelenska, pay tribute to the Ukrainians who died during the protests in Maidan Square, which led to the fall of the then president Viktor Ianukovich (pro-Russian).
