The Ukrainian president on Friday highlighted the Ukrainian cities of Bucha, Irpin, Kherson and Marioupol as targets of Russian “atrocities” and as “symbols of occupation” or “resistance”.
“They are the capitals of invincibility,” said Volodymyr Zelensky in a speech broadcast on social networks and which marks one year since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“The world has seen what Ukraine is capable of. These are the new heroes: the defenders of Kiev, the defenders of Azovstal (Marioupol). Kharkiv, Cherniguiv, Marioupol, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Gostomel, Volnovakha, Bucha, Irpin, Okhtyrka “Cities of heroes. Capitals of invincibility,” Zelensky said.
In the same speech, the Ukrainian president also said that Ukraine will only stop when “Russian murderers are punished.”
“We will never forgive them. We will never rest until the Russian murderers are punished. By an international court, by God’s judgment or by our soldiers,” Zelensky said.
The Ukrainian head of state also stressed that Ukraine “inspired” and “united” the world.
“Ukraine shocked the world. Ukraine inspired the world. Ukraine united the world. There are thousands of words to prove it,” Zelensky said in the same speech broadcast on social media.
