“The Devil is on Earth.” The day of Bucha’s launch scared Zelensky the most

The Ukrainian president considers that the most terrifying day he has had in the last year was the day he visited Bucha, after the liberation of the city, which was occupied by Russian forces.

“What we saw means that the Devil is not somewhere, he is on Earth. Perhaps it was that,” Volodymyr Zelensky explained, at the same time, in which he noted who else disappointed him throughout the war: “Whoever left the country on the 24th, who left Kiev and cities and towns and was supposed to lead the country and take care of its security, watch over the whole country”.

The president of Ukraine is not exempt from mistakes, noting that “there were several”, since he is “all day making decisions”. Even so, “what matters is that, as President, he does not make fatal mistakes” that lead to the destruction of the country, since he has the constitutional obligation to watch over it.

Even so, the most important thing “is not only the territories that are lost, it is the people”.

“Anyone who has never been to war or lost someone has a hard time understanding grief,” which Zelensky says is hard to “take with everyone.”

For the Ukrainian leader, “staying at arm’s length and saying you’re not sure” about the need or response levels “is a weak position” and “that’s what diplomacy and journalism are for.”

“It’s hard to take this to those who are against it, and there are six countries that are against it,” Zelensky says, referring to the vote at UN headquarters.

Ukraine “has to take steps forward on the African continent, we have worked poorly these years,” he acknowledges, something that has led to a commitment to more diplomatic representations.

“Someone of this support is still missing” and Zelensky wants, therefore, to organize a summit with Latin American and African countries, pledging to be present, “even if it is difficult.”

The country, he guarantees, has “sought a fair dialogue” with the nations of the world, with the commitment to turn “neutrality into non-neutrality in the face of war”, that is, to condemn it.

Challenged to explain what is happening with the F-16s and the status of his application, Zelensky notes that there are several NATO weapons that “Ukraine understandably cannot have access to because it is not a member country.”

Ukraine “needs vehicles to protect people” and last fall “realized that it can take back its territories.”

A while ago “no one in Ukraine believed they could receive Patriots”, but now they have them and that is a good sign, but “over time people are losing them”, he warns.

“Our partners know that we want air vehicles to protect our skies, people and infrastructure” and Zelensky has already met, for example, with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to establish “military training”.
