A Russian missile strike on a residential building in the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporijia killed at least two people on Thursday, the country’s authorities said.
The Russians “almost completely destroyed a five-story building. People are lying under the rubble. According to preliminary information, two people have been killed,” Zaporijia City Council Secretary Anatoly Kurtev wrote on the Telegram platform.
The Rijkshulpdienst confirmed that the bodies of two lifeless people had been removed from that area.
Eleven people were rescued and are being treated in hospital, including a pregnant woman.

A total of 90 people, including three psychologists, and 24 units are involved in search and rescue operations, the emergency service said.
On social media, the Ukrainian president lamented the attack on the residential building and said relief operations are underway.
“The terrorist state wants to turn every day of our people into a day of terror. But evil will not reign in our country. We will expel all residents and they will certainly be held responsible for everything,” Volodymyr Zelensky wrote in a Facebook post. message , where he shared a video showing the devastation wrought by the Russian attack.
Already on Wednesday evening, Zelensky said in his usual speech to the population that cities and districts on the front line are victims of “Russian bombardments every day and night”.
“It is deliberate terror,” the Ukrainian head of state noted.
