German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Thursday appealed to the People’s Republic of China not to supply weapons “to the Russian aggressor”.
“My message is clear: use your influence to demand from Moscow the withdrawal of Russian troops. Do not supply arms to the Russian aggressor,” Scholz said in the German parliament (Bundestag).
In the same speech, Scholz said that Germany and other partners were in talks with Kiev about “future security commitments” for Ukraine.
Scholz referred to “talks” with Kiev on “future commitments” on “security issues” but did not specify or detail the plan, after criticizing the Russian head of state for military aggression on Ukrainian territory.
“will be [Vladimir] Putin ready to negotiate a return to principles and a just peace? At the moment there are no indications of that,” Sholz told the German parliament (Bundestag) in Berlin, while criticizing Moscow’s threatening actions, such as the suspension of the Novo Start agreement.
Last week Russia suspended the still in force agreement (Novo Start) with the United States on the proliferation of weapons.
