The Iranian regime denied these cases until this week when, after much pressure, it announced the opening of an investigation. Activists point the finger at extremist religious groups that oppose girls’ education.
For this reason, the executive director of the Iranian center for human rights wants António Guterres to create a committee of experts from UNICEF and the World Health Organization to investigate what is happening. Hadi Ghaemi speaks of acts of terrorism and argues that if the regime is unable or incompetent to stop the poisonings, then the UN must intervene.

interviewed by TSF, expresses the conviction that these attacks could not happen without the support of the regime and that the extremists responsible, like the government, are terrified of the potential and power of girls. This Iranian, exiled in England, adds that it is a new campaign of intimidation similar to those that took place during the protests against the compulsory use of hijab.
Hadi Ghaemi guarantees that the situation of the girls is very difficult, “there is a lot of pressure, many of them were arrested, raped and even murdered.”
“The repression is enormous and, for now, the authorities have managed to control the high school girls, but it is obvious that they are ready to demonstrate again. The revolution depends, however, more on the university students. Many have been arrested and killed. “Others went underground, but I think they will be the engine of the next protest movement. Now they are waiting for some guidance because they don’t want to be killed for nothing anymore,” she said.
Hadi Ghaemi admits that due to the arrests, executions and torture, the protests have stopped in most of the country. The demands, however, received no response from the regime and, sooner or later, everything will happen again: “The problem will soon return when the government continues without responding to the demands. I have a lot of debate about how to return to the streets with a plan, with an organization and with a voice. During the months of protests, people from all over the country have spontaneously demonstrated against the Islamic Republic and this has awakened the national consciousness. “
For the executive director of the Iranian center for human rights, these debates push the opposition and pressure it to take a position. People may not have a political party or organization, but they have the same demands. Ghaemi explains that now it is necessary to find a way to transform this unity into a real power to fight the regime and defeat it. People want to know what will happen next.
Until the population can come together, Hadi Ghaemi says the international community has to help because the regime has to be isolated and held to account. “We hope that Europe and other countries like Australia, New Zealand, Japan or Brazil, countries that have ambassadors in Iran, withdraw them in a coordinated way as a form of protest. We also want Iranian diplomats in those states to be recalled to the foreign ministries. Another aspect that is essential is to prevent Europe and the United States from paving the way for financial aid to the regime under a nuclear deal. If they say that such an agreement is necessary, they should link it to human rights. .”
The activist, heard by the TSF, left a call to the people to try to follow the case of the political prisoners. There are believed to be more than 10,000 in the country and many are on hunger strike to protest conditions of detention, arbitrary sentences and isolation. Prisoners don’t have access to lawyers, families can’t visit them, and that’s why Ghaemi advocates that we all press Tehran to release these people.
