Brendan Fraser and Michelle Yeoh won Best Actor Oscars at the 95th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards.
Brendan Fraser received the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Darren Aronofsky’s “The Whale.” Fraser’s performance had already received this year’s Screen Actors Guild award, among other honors.
Michelle Yeoh stood out for her role in “Everything and Everywhere at the Same Time.”
Oscar nominees for Best Actor were Austin Butler for “Elvis,” Colin Farrell for “The Spirits of Inisherin,” Paul Mescal for “Aftersun” and Bill Nighy for “Viver.”
Cate Blanchett, in “Tár”, Ana de Armas, in “Blonde”, Andrea Riseborough, in “Para Leslie”, and Michelle Williams, in “Os Fabelmans”, were nominated for the Oscar for Best Actress.
The Oscars celebrate their 95th edition tonight, in a ceremony that takes place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, which featured the short film “Ice Merchants”, by the Portuguese João Gonzalez, nominated for Best Animated Short Film.
“Everything Everywhere at the Same Time,” by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, received 11 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director, plus acting.
The Oscar for Best Picture, the last one to be announced tonight, are also nominated for “The Spirits of Inisherin” (Martin McDonagh), “The Fablemans” (Steven Spielberg), “Tár” (Todd Field), “No West Again ” (Edward Berger), “Top Gun: Maverick” (Joseph Kosinski), “Elvis” (Baz Luhrmann), “Avatar: The Road to Water” (James Cameron), “The Voice of a Woman” (Sarah Polley) and “Triangle of sadness” (Ruben Ostlund).
