Greek intelligence exposes Russian spy who stole dead woman’s identity

The Greek intelligence services revealed this Thursday, in a statement, that they had detected a spy posing as a woman known as “Maria T.”, now deceased, and who was working for foreign intelligence services on Greek territory.

“Maria T., who claimed to be Greek and worked as a photographer while owning a craft and knitwear shop in Athens, obtained Greek citizenship in 2018,” he describes in the statement, released by the Greek news agency ANA.

The Greek intelligence services explained that these types of agents usually use “documents of deceased persons”, as would also have been the case of the one who called herself “María T”.

In reality, it was a spy with Russian nationality identified as “Irina AS” who, claiming to be the daughter of Greek parents, managed to obtain Greek nationality.

According to the Greek police, it is a young woman in her early thirties who was part of the “category of illegal agents” (or clandestine agents), who has no official connection to the government of the country of origin and uses a “cover “difficult to detect.

“It is clear that the activity of ‘Maria T.’ It would not have been limited to Greek territory. As a citizen of the European Union, she could have traveled and worked in many European countries, “the information services statement further specifies. .
