“There are two dead and 29 injured in Sloviansk. Administrative buildings and offices have been damaged, as well as five residential buildings and seven houses,” Kyrylenko said in a social media post, adding that Russian troops “reached the city center (…) with two S-300 missiles”.

The governor added that another city in the Donetsk region, Druzhkivka, was the target of an attack.
“Another day that began with the terrorism of the Russian Federation. The aggressor state hit our city of Sloviansk,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on social networks, promising that “Ukraine will not forgive the torture inflicted.”
Russian forces have made the capture of the Donetsk region their top military priority and announced last year that they had annexed the area, although they still do not control the entire area.
Meanwhile, authorities in Avdiivka have announced the departure of municipal officials from this city on the frontline in eastern Ukraine and regularly bombed by Russian forces.
“Avdiivka looks more and more like a place from a post-apocalyptic movie (…) So a difficult decision was made to (…) remove municipal employees who at least tried to maintain the cleanliness and vitality of the city. preserved,” he said. Vitaliy Barabash, head of the local military administration.
Russian troops have been trying for several months to take Avdiivka, which has been on the front line of battle with Russian troops since 2014, when Moscow decided to annex Crimea.
Hit by artillery and more recently by the air force, the city now has only about 2,300 residents, 1,960 of whom have been identified as receiving humanitarian aid, Barabash said.
In June, the Russians cut off one of the two main access roads to the city and positioned themselves to the east and south.
