The Ismaili Muslim community is unaware of the motives of the man who entered his premises in Lisbon this Tuesday morning armed with a sharp object and killed two people and left another injured, the structure announced.
The victims are two women, according to a police source, and at least one was an employee of the center.
The attack occurred around 11:30 a.m. as classes and other activities were taking place at the Ismaili center, said the president of the National Council of the Islamic Ismaili Community, Rahim Firozali.
The police and INEM were immediately called to the scene and the attacker was eventually removed from the center, while investigations are currently being carried out by the judicial police.
“The Ismaili Muslim community is already offering full support to the families of the victims, to whom it extends its deepest condolences,” added the person responsible in a statement sent to the Lusa agency.
The attacker was transported to Hospital de São José (Lisbon), where he is being treated for injuries caused by the intervention of the PSP.
