The Military Police of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais announced Wednesday that it had saved a woman who had been buried alive in a cemetery.
Authorities saved “the life of a woman who was buried, still alive, in a vertical grave, in the municipal cemetery of the city of Visconde do Rio Branco,” the Brazilian Military Police said in a statement.
According to the same note, the military, upon hearing cries for “help”, broke the brick wall and took out the 36-year-old woman, who had head injuries and several cuts on her body.
“The gravediggers of the municipal cemetery called the Military Police when they saw a catacomb closed with bricks and fresh cement and with blood marks near the site,” the police explained.
According to the victim, she was at home with her husband, “when her residence was invaded by two hooded men who attacked her.”
The woman also said that her husband was attacked but that he managed to escape and that from that moment on he does not remember anything else “until he wakes up in the grave.”
The victim also said that previously “he would have kept weapons and drugs for two individuals and that this material had been lost.”
According to police, the victim is involved “with drug use, drug trafficking and robbery,” and the “suspects aged 20 and 22 have been identified and have yet to be found.”
