The annual rise in the prices of agricultural products slowed, in the fourth quarter of 2022, to 26% in the European Union (EU), compared to 30% in the previous quarter and 17.5% in the same period, according to data released this Wednesday by eurostat.
According to data from the European statistical service, between October and December 2022, the price of agricultural products as a whole (production) had the highest increases in Hungary (52.9%), Poland (44.2%) and Germany (38%). %), with Malta (3.8%), France (13.7%) and Cyprus (14.5%) registering the smallest increases.
In Portugal, the prices of agricultural production rose by 31.5% in the fourth quarter, compared to 27.9% in the previous quarter and 19.4% in the same period of the previous year.
Eggs (64%), pork (52%) and olives (51%) are the products that increased the most in the EU during the period in question.
In Portugal, the prices of these products rose, respectively, by 74%, 66.9% and 73.9% in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The Russian invasion of the Ukraine, which began on February 24, caused several disturbances in the agricultural markets, particularly since both countries were, until the beginning of the war, the largest exporters of grains, cereals, corn, cooking oils and fertilizers. .
